Fort Worth coliseum set to explode with Yellowstone stars and cutting horses

Yellowstone and Landman stars are saddling up for a true Western showdown in Fort Worth next month, and the horses will be doing most of the thinking.

The National Cutting Horse Association has released the official guest list for its 2026 Celebrity Cutting event set for April 11 at Will Rogers Coliseum. Proceeds from the night will go directly to UT Southwestern Fort Worth, with tickets already on sale starting at $41.

Fort Worth coliseum set to explode with Yellowstone stars and cutting horses

This is no ordinary celebrity appearance. The stars will compete in one of the oldest and most demanding equestrian sports in Texas history. Cutting began with the first known contest in 1898 in Haskell, Texas. Riders work with a herd of cattle to quietly separate one cow. Once the animal is cut from the group, the rider drops the reins completely. From that moment the horse takes full control, using its own instincts to block every move the cow makes.

It remains the only equestrian event where the horse is required to think and react independently. Judges score each run on the difficulty of the cow selected and how effectively the horse performs without any help from the rider. The combination of power, speed, and intelligence makes cutting horses legendary among working cowboys across the West.

The celebrity roster is stacked with talent straight from Taylor Sheridan’s hit shows. Returning favorites include Ian Bohen of Yellowstone and Lioness, James Jordan who has appeared in Yellowstone, 1883, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness and Landman, Neal McDonough from Yellowstone and Tulsa King, and Robert Patrick of 1923 and Tulsa King. Also competing are C. Thomas Howell from 1923, Jill Wagner from Lioness, Beau Garrett and Elle Chapman from The Madison, Dave Annable and LaMonica Garrett and Michael Kelly from Lioness, and Taylor Handley from Mayor of Kingstown. Rounding out the field are actor Matthew Rhys known for The Americans and The Beast in Me, plus professional boxer Caleb Plant.

Each celebrity will be paired with a trained cutting horse and a professional trainer for the evening. The format keeps the focus on the horse while giving fans a rare chance to see their favorite actors step out of the script and into the arena dust.

Organizers say the event blends Hollywood star power with authentic Texas ranching tradition. Tickets are available now through the NCHA website and Will Rogers Coliseum box office. General admission starts at $41, with premium seating options priced higher. All proceeds support medical care and research at UT Southwestern Fort Worth.

For fans of Yellowstone, Landman, 1923 and the entire Sheridan universe, this is a unique opportunity to watch these actors test their skills in a sport that demands real grit and trust between rider and horse. The coliseum will be packed with Western enthusiasts and television fans alike, creating an electric atmosphere unlike any other fundraiser in North Texas.

Mark your calendar for April 11. The cutting horses are ready. The stars are stepping up. And Fort Worth is about to see Hollywood meet the real Old West in the most exciting way possible.
